Zari Embroidery

Zari work is a beautiful art of weaving threads made up of fine gold or silver. These threads are woven into fabrics majorly made up of silk to create heavy and close patterns. There are two kinds of zari threads. The dull zari thread is known as kora and the shinier thread is known as chikna. The designs made in zari work are quite crisp and the overall fabric entails richness and royal outlook. Zari is created through the process of twisting metallic strip made of gold, silver or metallic polyester yarn. These silver or gold threads are flattened and are wound on the primary yarn. The patterns on zari are inspired by various ancient beliefs and rituals.
